Achieving your desired body shape boosts confidence and makes you feel great.
Breast Lift
Breast Lift, also known as Mastopexy, is a popular surgery to help sagging breasts get an uplift and look more youthful.
Breasts obviously play an important role in a woman’s life. Her breasts help define her overall personality and give her self-confidence. However, with time, every woman notices a gradual fall in the size, shape, and firmness of her breasts. Age, pregnancy, breast feeding, gravity, hereditary factors, weight gain or weight loss – all can affect the elasticity and youthfulness of the breasts, and cause them to sag, shrink or flatten out.
This is where a Breast Lift can help.
Breast lift is a surgery that requires specialized surgical expertise. So, before deciding to undergo this surgery, it is imperative to get a clear understanding of the process, and the do’s and don’ts associated with it. FAQ's for Breast Lift
A woman’s breasts change over time, and start to sag, thus losing their youthful shape and firmness. Breast Lift is a surgical procedure which helps improve the looks of your breasts, making them look younger, perkier, more attractive, and balanced by adjusting their position on your chest wall. It also repositions sagging or low-lying areolas and nipples to a more central position, higher up on the breasts.
It is important to note that a breast lift surgery does not change the size of your breasts. For larger or smaller breasts, you will have to combine it with a breast augmentation or breast reduction surgery.
Breast lift is usually performed under general or twilight anesthesia as an outpatient procedure (patient can go back home the same day). In some cases, an overnight stay at hospital or clinic may be required.
In this procedure, a breast surgeon, will make a delicate incision usually around the areola, and lift the breast by removing the excess skin and lifting and reshaping breast tissue. In cases where a large amount of excess skin is to be removed, a larger incision will have to be made by the breast lift surgeon.
To do this successfully, a well-trained and experienced team, like ours at Cocoona, is needed. Our top surgeons have done over 2,000 breast surgeries with amazing results.
A breast lift surgery is done to reposition your breasts/ nipples to a higher, more central position on your chest/ breast, and to make them firmer. This serves to enhance the appearance of your breasts, making them look younger and perkier.
If you are largely happy with the size of your breasts, but not with their sagging, drooping look, and wish for them to be higher and firmer, a breast lift is just right for you. If you have drooping nipples and/ or areolas, or if one of your breasts is at a different position than the other, a breast lift (involving a nipple lift) can correct those issues too
.
If you want to change the size of your breasts as well as their position, you would need to combine the breast lift with a breast augmentation or breast implants, called an augmentation mastopexy or with breast reduction surgery, known as reduction mastopexy.
Breast lift is also done after a mastectomy (removal of breast due to cancer) to align both breasts, and correct asymmetries.
A breast lift surgery often includes a nipple lift, and is also combined with inverted nipple surgery, or nipple reduction for nipple hypertrophy.
The end-objective for most women is to make the breasts look more youthful, enhance self-image and self-confidence.

Breast Lift is a common and popular procedure which will make your appearance different from your existing one. Nevertheless, it is a surgery, thus it is important for you to decide carefully before going ahead with your decision. Common questions that we suggest you ask yourself are:
Why do I need this lift?
Am I happy with the size of my breasts?
Will the surgery give me more confidence and contentment?
Will I be comfortable with this change?
Do I realize that my breasts can still change over time after the surgery?
Once you have answers to these questions, you must then take the most important steps of identifying the best breast surgeon, and breast clinic in town. This will ensure that you get the best consultation, advice, and results for your desired procedure.
A top breast lift surgeon is one who is appropriately certified, well qualified, has loads of experience, has worked with different solutions and techniques, and is well respected amongst his peers and patients. The surgeon should have a good track record of consistent and quality results. Also during your initial consultation, remember to ask him to share the ‘before’ and ‘after’ photos depicting his work.
A well-known and respected breast clinic is one which has a good team of surgeons, anaesthesiologists, and nursing staff. Their location should be convenient and the premises should be approved by the medical authorities. They should have a reputation of successful surgeries, and their team should be able to explain the details of the procedures to you.
Cocoona has been voted as the “Best Aesthetic Clinic” in 2016, and has all the necessary facilities to ensure a pleasant and happy experience. Our team will help you make a confident and informed decision. Check out the profile of Dr. Sanjay Parashar, the best breast surgeon in UAE.
Breast lift is indicated for:
Women who have lost firmness of breasts due to aging, pregnancy, breast feeding, or weight loss
Asymmetrical breasts
Tuberous breast deformity where the shape of the breast is very narrow and tubular
Alignment of breasts after mastectomy (breast removal due to breast cancer)
Flat or elongated breasts
Low-lying or downward pointing nipples and areolas (corrected via nipple lift)
A normally healthy woman, with stable blood pressure, not pregnant, nor currently breast feeding are generally good candidates. Being a non-smoker also helps. And importantly, you should be in the age bracket where your breasts have developed fully, which is a minimum of 18 years of age.
A simple test to check if you need a breast lift is to place a pen in the fold or crease under your breasts. If the pen stays in place unsupported, then you could use a breast lift.
If you feel that some of these descriptions match you, come and talk to our experts, we will be able to guide you to the next steps towards having youthful, shapely breast contours.
During the initial consultation, our qualified breast lift surgeon will examine your breasts to better understand the amount of droop (sagginess), deflation, lack of shape, skin elasticity, and nipple position. It is only after these aspects are examined and well analyzed that the best technique will be selected.
These are the options that the surgeon will select from:
- Crescent Breast Lift
- Doughnut/ Donut Breast Lift
- Lollipop Breast Lift
- Anchor Breast Lift
At Cocoona, we have the expertise across all these options, and that is one of the reasons that we conduct the most number of successful breast lift in India.
Let’s look at what these options are and when they are used:
- Crescent Breast Lift: This is also commonly known as the Nipple Lift. This is used to correct the mildest symptoms of sagging (ptosis), and is a short procedure. The surgeon removes a crescent shaped tissue above the areola, and then raises the nipple to a higher position.
- Doughnut Breast Lift: This in medical terms is known as Circumareola Breast Lift, or Apex Breast Lift. In this procedure, the surgeon will remove some tissue in the shape of a ‘doughnut’ around the areola, and then reattach the remaining tissue to the areola. This procedure is very popular in correcting mild to moderate sagging.
- Lollipop Breast Lift: When more lift is needed than what can be provided by the Doughnut method, the surgeon will use this process. It is also known as Vertical Mastopexy among the medical fraternity. The surgeon will commence with the Doughnut method, but also make a straight incision from under the areola to the breast crease. This will allow a larger lift of the breast to compensate for the increased sagging.
- Anchor Breast Lift: This procedure is used to correct the most severe cases of sagging. During this procedure, your surgeon will make an anchor shaped incision starting from base of the areola and travelling right down to the junction of the breast and rib cage. Here the surgeon will remove a crescent shaped piece of tissue, reposition your nipple to a higher position and shape your new breasts to appear perkier and younger.
- Fat Grafting or Fat Transfer from other parts of your body
Please feel free to discuss the benefits of each type of option before deciding which is good for you. Our surgeon will recommend the best
option suitable for you, his experience and training will guide you to the best possible results.
Dr. Sanjay Parashar is a specialist in breast surgeries, and possibly the best breast surgeon in Dubai and UAE. Come and talk to him, or any of our other specialist surgeons to see which method will give you the desired shape, and younger, perkier breasts.
Pregnancy has a variable effect on the shape and function of the breasts, ranging from the pre-pregnancy normal stage, to the pregnant stage, lactating stage, and the post breastfeeding stage
During pregnancy and the breastfeeding stage, the breasts enlarge, but after this period when the breast size reduces, the skin rarely shrinks to the same degree, leading to excess skin. This excess skin can best be removed with a breast lift surgery. Due to the changes in breast shape and sizes during pregnancies, many women prefer to wait till after they have completed their families and nursing. This helps them achieve a much more long-lasting result with the breast lift surgery.
In many cases of breast lift surgery, the breast-feeding ability of the woman may be affected. Sometimes, during surgery, milk ducts, glands or nerves may be damaged, which can affect milk production or milk flow. Though breastfeeding after breast lift surgery is possible, and many women are able to successfully breastfeed after such a surgery, if you plan to get pregnant, and will need to nurse the baby, we would suggest that this procedure be delayed.
Please discuss in full detail with our consulting breast surgeon of your plans for pregnancy to get the right advice on the type of surgery best suited for you.
When the breast lift is performed by a good surgeon, the results can be very long lasting, giving many years of satisfaction.
A breast lift surgery has a very high success rate, and most patients are satisfied with their results when the surgery is done with a good breast surgeon.
Nevertheless, changes in body weight, pregnancy & lactation can affect the results, and you may then decide to do a follow up/ correction.
At Cocoona, the skill of our leading breast surgeons ensures that your surgery is done in the most technically proficient manner to ensure maximum longevity and minimal chances of revision surgery.
The cost of a breast lift surgery depends on the following:
Technique – The technique used also affects the cost – based on incision type.
Surgeon’s Expertise – The surgeon’s fee is based on their experience. Obviously, a reputed surgeon with an established track record of quality results will charge higher fees, and give you a better, long-lasting result.
Clinic/ Hospital – Fees also depend upon the quality of the facility chosen for the operation, and also whether the procedure is done as outpatient (with twilight anesthesia) or as inpatient (with general anesthesia).
A breast lift is usually done as a cosmetic procedure, and is therefore not covered by insurance. In cases where the surgery is done as part of a breast reconstruction after mastectomy, it may be covered by insurance. Please check with your insurance provider about eligibility.
You should bear in mind that the expertise of your surgeon and your comfort factor with him/ her should be one the most important considerations than just the cost of the surgery. An initially cheaper option could turn out to be an expensive proposition in the long run.
For an accurate assessment of cost, you would need an initial consultation with our surgeon
Breast lift surgery typically takes between 2-4 hours. It is usually done with general anesthesia, as an outpatient procedure, and the patient can go home shortly after the surgery. If done as an inpatient procedure, 1- night stay in the hospital would be needed.
Most women can return to normal activities within 7-10 days and usually require only 1 week off work when having the procedure just before the start of a weekend.
You can commence basic exercises like walking, treadmill, stationary biking after 1 week. Heavy lifting or intense physical activity should be done only after your surgeon’s permission – could take up to 2 months.
The initial meeting with the breast surgeon is very important. It will give our experts an opportunity to better understand your needs, and they will be able to share their experience and explain the procedure to you.
A common goal of the outcome can then be established. You will also be able to assess your comfort level with the surgeon.
By this time, you should be clear on why you wish to undertake the breast lift surgery and what are your expectations.
Once you are clear about that, share the answers with the consulting surgeon. That will allow for a better understanding between you and the doctor, making you better prepared for the procedure.
Your consultation with our breast surgeon will include the following:
- Your reasons, need and goals from the breast lift surgery
- Your health, lifestyle and habits, ongoing medications, previous operations and relevant medical history
- Your motherhood plans
- Measurements of your breasts/ anatomy, maybe some pictures too
- Options available for your surgery, and which is best suited for you
- Explanation of steps involved, what you can expect, potential risks, recovery period, do’s and dont’s.
You may also be asked to get a mammogram or breast ultrasound before the surgery.
A bit of apprehension is natural, but don’t feel shy in discussing any issues that you may have in respect to your new look. These are essential to help plan your surgery better, and improve recovery time.
